Asst. Prof. Bahar İPEK
Department of Chemical Engineering 
I got my Bachelor's Degree from METU Food Engineering in 2008 and then I got my MS degree in Chemistry Engineering from METU in 2011 with my studies in Photocatalysis. Between 2011 and 2016, I completed my PhD at the University of Delaware Chemical Engineering Department on "Energy Use of Small-Pore Zeolites". During this period, I was a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology Neutron Research Center in the United States. I joined METU Chemical Engineering Department as an assistant professor in spring semester 2017. I am currently researching zeolite and porous material synthesis and characterization in the fields of hydrogen storage and heterogeneous catalysis.
Asst. Prof. Batur ERCAN
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Dr. Batur Ercan has been working at METU Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering as an Assistant Professor. Prior to starting his teaching career as a lecturer in METU, he worked on the renal application of CoCrMo based stents in Alvimedica company. After the postdoctoral studies at Northeastern University, he focused on orthopedics and skin applications of nanobiomaterials and played an active role in the development of anti-bacterial coatings. Prior to this position, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toner and him developed a device for separating white blood cells from blood using microfluidic techniques. He received his PhD from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Brown University and worked on bone tissue engineering. He holds a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from Purdue University and specializes in the mechanical properties of plasma coatings.
Asst. Prof. Elif Sürer
Informatics Institute
In 2005 and 2007, I received my BA and MS degrees from Boğaziçi University Computer Engineering, respectively. I worked with children with cerebral palsy at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital of the Harvard Medical School in Boston for about a year during my PhD at Bologna University. After I received my PhD, I worked at Sassari University for a year and a half on the project modeling degenerative diseases of German Shepherd dogs and I taught at the faculty of medicine. Between 2013 and 2015, I developed a game engine and video games for patients with paralysis and Neglect syndrome under the European Union project called REWIRE at the University of Milan. I returned to Turkey in February 2015 and developed a game for the cognitive and physical development of children with Down Syndrome as a TUBITAK 2232 scholar. I was involved as a researcher in BAP projects and taught at the Informatics Institute Multimedia Informatics. As of April, I have been serving as a faculty member in the same department. My research areas include serious games, procedural content, motion analysis, machine learning and computer vision. My hobbies are scuba diving, comic book designing and storytelling.
Asst. Prof. Emre BÜKÜŞOĞLU
Department of Chemical Engineering
I graduated from METU Department of Chemical Engineering in 2008. I received my MS degree in 2010 from METU Department of Chemical Engineering and my PhD degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Chemistry and Biology Engineering in 2015. In this process, I was involved in various scientific projects in Wisconsin Research Center for Materials Science and Engineering (UW-MRSEC), and in the activities for the dissemination of science. I continue my research on soft materials, sensors, liquid crystals, colloid and interphase phenomena, composites and polymers. I am interested in tennis, running, cycling, calligraphy and coffee.
Asst. Prof. Gökhan Muzaffer GÜVENSEN
Electrical and Electronics Engineering 
Dr. Gökhan M. Asst. Prof. Güvensen received his BA, MS and PhD degrees from METU Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2006, 2009 and 2014, respectively. He took part in post-doctoral research in Center for Pervasive Communications and Computing (CPCC) laboratory, University of California, Irvine in the USA during 2015-2016, and he is currently conducting joint research with the university. In 2017, he started to work as an assistant professor at METU Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. His research interests are focused on modulation theory, next generation wireless communication techniques, information theory and radar signal processing, as well as digital communication systems and statistical signal processing in general. He likes listening 90s music and Turkish classical music, swimming and watching classic movies in his free time. He is also in the pursuit of the gourmet tastes of Turkish and international cuisines.
Asst. Prof. Hamdullah YÜCEL

Institute of Applied Mathematics

I received my BA degree from METU Department of Mathematics in 2007. In the same year, I started the integrated PhD program in the field of Scientific Computing in METU Institute of Applied Mathematics and I got my PhD degree in 2012. I also worked as a research assistant at METU Department of Mathematics. I worked as a visiting researcher in Darmstadt Technical University in Germany and Rice University in the United States as part of my PhD work. After working as a post-doctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute for Complex Technical Systems between 2012 and 2015, and I joined METU Institute of Applied Mathematics as an assistant professor in April 2017. My main areas of research include optimization control problems, discontinuous Galerkin methods, and adaptive networking methods.

Asst. Prof. İlkay ŞENDENİZ YÜNCÜ

Department of Business Administration

I got my MBA degree from METU Department of Civil Engineering and METU Department of Business Administration after receiving my BA degree from METU Department of Civil Engineering. I worked in finance in private sector for about four years. I got my PhD from the Faculty of Business Administration of Bilkent University in 2007. I continued my post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley, the Haas School of Business and the Tilburg University School of Economics and Management, respectively. In 2008, I worked as assistant professor at the IÉSEG School of Management. I continue to work as an assistant professor in the METU Business Department. I teach banking, financial markets and finance-economic growth relations at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level.

Asst. Prof. Kerem BAYAR

Department of Mechanical Engineering

I received my BA and MS degrees from METU Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2004 and 2006, respectively. In 2011, I received my PhD degree from Ohio State University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. I worked in the automotive industry in the US between 2011 and 2015. I have been working as an assistant professor in METU Department of Mechanical Engineering since April 2017. My specialty is automotive engineering. My major research interests include vehicle dynamics and control, software and hardware simulation techniques in the field of automotive engineering, and hybrid and electric vehicles. My hobbies are reading books and doing sports.

Asst. Prof. Koray ÖZHAN
Graduate School of Marine Sciences 
Koray Özhan graduated from the Department of Chemistry at METU in 2003 and then moved to the USA. After working as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry for many years, he completed his MS in organometallics at the Chemical Department of Southern Connecticut State University. He got his PhD degree in 2014 on the consequences of the "Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill" on the ecosystem, which is the biggest marine oil accident ever recorded, at the Department of Oceanography, Louisiana State University. Since then, he has been conducting post-doctoral research in the area of ​​Marine Chemistry at METU Graduate School of Marine Sciences and working on marine chemistry, ecotoxicology and human-induced pollutants.
Asst. Prof. Mustafa Mert ANKARALI
Department of Electric and Electronical Engineering
I received my BA and MS degrees in 2007 and 2010, respectively, from METU Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. I received my PhD degree from Department of Computer Engineering, John Hopkins University in 2015. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the same department until 2016. After returning to Turkey, I worked as a specialist robotics engineer at Desistek Robotics Ltd for a year. I joined METU Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering as an assistant professor in 2017 and I have been still in the same position. Throughout my academic and professional life, my research has been focused on robots and dynamic mobility in animals, and I continue to work in this area. I was on the list of "2015 Siebel Scholars" due to my studies and achievements in this area.
Asst. Prof. Onur Behzat TOKDEMİR
Department of Civil Engineering
I received my BA degree from METU Department of Civil Engineering and MS and PhD degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology University in Chicago, Illinois. After working as a research assistant at the Illinois Institute of Technology, I worked on Project Management at the "Illinois Institute of Technology", "City College of New York", "New York University", Qatar University and Istanbul Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture as a part-time research assistant. Before joining METU, I worked as the Project Management Office reporting to the Chairman of Board of Renaissance Holding and later as Chief Sustainability Officer. I have articles in journals such as "Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering", "Construction Management and Economics", "Journal of Construction Engineering and Management", "International Journal of Project Management" and "Computer Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering". I am a huge fan of Beşiktaş JK and I have been interested in the art of Hapkido, a Korean sports, and have a black belt for many years.
Asst. Prof. Ozan Cem ÇELİK
Department of Civil Engineering
Assoc.Prof. Ozan Cem Çelik, who attended METU Ankara Campus, Department of Civil Engineering, in July 2016, received his BA and MS degrees from METU in 2000 and 2002 and his PhD degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007. After his PhD, he worked at a consultancy company, Walter P. Moore and Associates, as a civil engineer, and then he started to work as a faculty member at METU Northern Cyprus Campus, Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Ozan Cem Çelik conducts scientific studies on structural dynamics and structural reliability, risk analysis, structural vibration measurement and analysis in the general field of earthquake engineering. His project "Forced Vibration Testing and Seismic Fragility Assessment of Instrumented Structures — FORAGAINST" completed in 2016 received support for 4 years under European Union Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant — IRG. In FORAGAINST project, forced and environmental vibration tests of instrumented structures were performed to keep structural vibration records in possible earthquakes in Turkey, and seismic fragility curves were obtained to evaluate the earthquake performance of these structures.
Asst. Prof. Pelin ANGIN
Department of Computer Engineering
I received my BA degree in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University in 2007 and a PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University in the United States in 2013. Between 2014 and 1917, I was a postdoctoral researcher and visiting assistant professor at Purdue University. Since April 2017, I have been working as an assistant professor in METU Department of Computer Engineering. Among my main research areas include mobile-cloud computing, cloud computing security, internet of objects and distributed systems. Among my hobbies are traveling, watching audiovisual and performing art exhibitions.
Asst. Prof. Simge ÇINAR
Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

After receiving my BA and MS degrees from METU Chemical Engineering Department in 2008 and 2009, respectively, I started my PhD at Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State University. I received my PhD in 2013 and continued post-doctoral studies in the same university in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering in two different groups. Then I started working as an assistant professor in METU Departments of Metallurgical and Materials Science in 2017. I keep on my work on colloids (micron-nanoscale particle systems in liquid medium) and surface chemistry. I intend to produce smart and advanced technologies, especially in the fields of energy and water saving and recycling, by developing multi-component and multifunctional material systems and subsystems in my studies involving metal, ceramics and polymer materials. Besides, I intend to make simple and widespread use of the developed technologies with the help of innovative frugal methods.
