The First Competition on METU Icons and METU Museums Concluded!

The first competition we organized to increase the product range of ODTÜDEN Store with the products designed by our students has been concluded by a jury evaluation in July.

The students submitted 74 applications in total to the competitions organized in two separate concepts as "Product Designs with METU Icons from 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s" and "Product Designs for METU Museums". In June, 52 projects were finalized after preliminary evaluation with participation of faculties from different departments. As a result of the final evaluation, four students were entitled to the award.

In the Competition of METU's Icons, Melih Olça, a student at the Department of Civil Engineering had the first prize, Hayri Dörtdivanlıoğlu from the Department of Architecture had the second prize, Aykut Aydın from the Department of Business Administration had the third prize, while Gizem Karataş from the Department of Industrial Products Design had the honorable mention. Few applications have been submitted to METU's Museums and no project has been found worthy of an award.

The students who were presented the first, second, third and honorable mention awards have been given a Canon EOS 700D camera, Ipad Air 2, accommodation in METU Uludağ Facilities and a gift card from ODTÜDEN store, respectively.

The Award Ceremony was held on July 1 when the METU Alumni Day was organized during the opening ceremony of the ODTÜDEN Store. President Prof. Dr. M. Verşan Kök presented the awards to the students.

The products of the winning students will be soon put up for sale at ODTÜDEN store with their designers' names on them.
