The awards of the "METU in My Dreams" and "My METU" short film and video competitions organized in the previous academic year in our University to encourage students to meet with cinema and allow them to be able to apply with all kinds of short films/videos (fiction, documentary, animation, experimental etc.) were presented to their owners.
In the "METU In My Dreams" Short Film and Video Competition organized to see METU from the eyes of high school students and to find out their expectations from a university, the participants made videos for up to five minutes and submitted them to METU GİSAM via Youtube. Those who had been shortlisted in the competition, where there were no restrictions of any specific scenario/subject, were invited to METU on April 22, 2017 and received their awards at the award ceremony held at CCC. Beyza Demirbaş from Istanbul Arel Anatolian Science School with the film "Hayalim ODTÜ" ; Aleyna Öztürk from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School with the film "Hayalinin Peşinde"; Gürkan Duman from Ankara Sincan High School with the film "Hedefe Doğru Adım" were granted the "METU ın My Dreams" Short Film and Video Competition Encouragement Award.
In "My METU" Short Film and Video Competition, which was organized by METU GİSAM to promote our university from the perspective of students and was open to all METU students, the awards were presented to their owners. Among the 12 films which were shortlisted, the film "ODTÜ ve Bir Gün" by METU English Teacher Student Şükran Köken, who used the Canon 7D + 1855 lens digital camera to shoot the video was awarded the first prize. The film "My METU" by Hunain Jawed who used Kodak SP360 4K 360 degree camera was awarded the second prize, the film "Benim ODTÜM" by Ege Erdem who used Samsung Nx3000 16-50mm Digital Camera was awarded the third prize, while the film "Ev" by Enes Kılınç who used Samsung Nx3000 16-50mm Digital Camera was awarded the Social Media Audience Award.
For the competition planned to be held every year, the applications for 2018 will started to be taken in October. The competition films can be found at "benim.odtu.edu.tr" and "hayalim.odtu.edu.tr".
