The international convention organized with the participation of English teachers every three years by the Department of Basic English, METU School of Foreign Languages was held on May 3-4, 2018 this year. All areas of the CCC were used for the presentations in the convention organized at the Culture and Convention Center.
1st International Ephemera Studies Symposium organized by Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Research Center (VEKAM) affiliated to Koç University was held in Ankara between 25-27 April 2018 with the contributions of Bahar Gürsel from METU Department of History. The symposium consisting of six themes and including Prof. Dr. Ayşen Savaş and Prof. Dr.T. Elvan Altan from the Faculty of Architecture in the International Science Committee Attracted great attention from the first day it was announced.
A plogging event was held by AdımODTÜ, a joint project of Middle East Technical University and METU Development Foundation at Lake Eymir on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Adapting the "plogging" workout that emerged in Sweden as an environmentally friendly sports activity and spread all over the world and aims to clean the environment while running as a "run and collect garbage" event, AdımODTÜ invites all the sports people and nature lovers in Ankara to the event.
Located on the most important migration routes of many bird species, in Turkey has taken action to expand ringing studies. The Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, which aims to increase the number of stations carrying out regular bird ringing work, is committed to bringing new stations into operation by cooperating with the universities. The first step was taken in Ankara. Eymir Bird Ringing Station, where bird migration studies were carried out in the years 2001-2002 and 2011-2012, started to operate again after 6 years.

Opened on October 21, 2017, Eymir Sales Point of ODTÜDEN Store opens its doors on April 23, 2018 again. "ODTÜDEN Ring Bus Store" created by transforming one of the METU's scrap blue ring buses, an important symbol of METU, into a store will be selling souvenirs designed especially for Lake Eymir and METU Forest. Music and performance shows will take place on the platform created in front of ODTÜDEN Ring Bus Store. The technical facilities such as amplifiers and microphones will be provided by the ODTÜDEN Store.
Carried out in Turkey simultaneously with the countries across the world since 2009, the Global Game Jam (GGJ) organized by ODTÜ TEKNOKENT in Turkey ended with a marathon of 57 games.
225 developers scored 57 games in GGJ ATOM organized by ODTÜ TEKNOKENT ATOM Center in Turkey. In the 48-hour marathon, game developers created games with interesting names such as "Kuru İftira", "Kaçak Elektrik", "Karpuz Kaldıran", "Üfürükten Tayyare Selam Söyle O Yâre", "Klavye Delikanlıları" and "Kapıcılar Kralı".
The Newton Fund was launched in 2014 to promote economic development and social welfare in partnering countries, through science and innovation partnerships and consists of a £735 million investment to be disbursed by 2021, with partner countries providing matched resources to the fund. The fund is managed by the UK's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and is delivered through different UK institutions including British Council, in partnership with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in Turkey.
